As the information structure is built up of sections (which are also a business object) and records from other objects, each its level has its code. The codes are easily comprehensible by the visitors and increase the website usability as they facilitate and optimize the website for search engines. The exemplary path „Home > About Us > Products > Websites > Website 1” can be written as SectionID=5&RecordID=12, where 5 is the ID of the Product.View section, and 12 is the ID of the Web site 1 product. However this record is hard to remember and comprehend for a user. If we compile the same URL from codes, it will look like this: www.somewebsite.com/aboutus/products/websites/website1. This URL is very similar to the path and would often match it completely. It is composed of the following parts:
  • „Home” usually the URL of the domain of the website
  • AboutUs is the code of the section „About Us”
  • Products is the code of the „Products” section
  • Instead of the dynamic section ProductGroup.View the code of the group of products is used – “WebSites”
  • Instead of the dynamic section Product.View the code of the product is used – “WebSite1”
